For the patient

The path of biological samples in the Tumorotheque-Biological Resource Centre (BRC): what happens to patient samples?

Your biological sample is received and checked, recorded, prepared and then stored at -80°C (= cryopreservation).

Reception and registration

-Your sample is received and then pseudo-anonymised by the CRB.

-The technicians of the Biological Resources Platform verify the data associated with your sample and the fact that you have given your consent for your sample to be used in a medical research project.

-To ensure the traceability of your samples, the BRC technicians enter them into a computer program: TumoroteK.

Preparation and conservation

-Your sample is taken by CRB technicians, the derivatives (= samples) are prepared and then stored.

-Your samples are then stored in freezers at -80°C.

For future research

The samples are kept for an indefinite period of time, which can go beyond 100 years. Researchers can use it instantly at the time of collection or later and compare the data collected with those that will be collected in 10 or 20 years’ time.

The aim is to have the broadest possible collections of biological samples for the future.

Your participation in a medical research project is entirely free and voluntary. Your consent can be revoked at any time.
