♦Reception for Diagnostics
All samples received at the biobank are immediately controlled, registered in the biobank database and labelled with unique identification code. There are mainly primary samples (tissue fragments and biological fluids) from the Anatomy, Cytology and Pathology (ACP) laboratory.
The biological ressources (BR) came from health care activities without any change in patient management. For tumours for which cryopreservation is recommended by the National Cancer Institute (INCa) for health purposes: at least, one sample must be reserved for health use, for the benefit of the patient.
The other samples may be requalified for research by ensuring that patients have been informed and hasn’t expressed their opposition. This type of sampling is from operating rooms or large biopsies, when only a part is used for diagnosis.
♦Reception for clinical research
Samples may also be taken specifically for research purposes. After informing and obtaining consent from patients, samples from hospital clinical departments are transported by pneumatic to the reception of ACP department. The technicians check then the samples conformity and record them in the BRC database (TumoroteK® software). The samples are then processed under a microbiological safety station, in compliance with the technical protocols defined for the different types of samples (tissue, serum, plasma, urine, etc.). The BRC receives samples that are transported in such a way as to preserve the samples integrity by using packaging and means of transport that comply with transport regulations (ADR)
